LABORATORY ASSISTANT - EVENINGS
About The Position
Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. Our rich history and strong community support pave the way for the future of healthcare as we serve you—our family, friends, and neighbors. The position is responsible for supporting laboratory operations. Working closely with laboratory technologists and other laboratory personnel to collect and prepare specimens, perform basic lab tests, and manage data entry and documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a medical laboratory setting
- Excellent organizational & multi-tasking
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Collect, prepare & Labeling of samples for testing
- Perform basic laboratory tests under the supervision of technologists
- Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment
- Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Assist with quality control and assurance procedures
- Communicate test results to relevant healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail and accuracy of specimen labeling
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Documentation and order entry into hospital Laboratory System (LIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ability to be organized & multi-task
- Communication and interpersonal skills
