SUMMARY: The Laboratory Assistant, under the direction of the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager or Coordinator, assists with performing clinical laboratory testing in various sections of the lab and supports the lab with clerical duties. Interacts with other staff members and communicates with clients as outlined. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Greets onsite clients, collects specimens, and processes necessary paperwork. Follows lab procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting, and maintaining records. Adheres to all lab quality control policies and documents all quality control activities. Understands and adheres to HIPPA regulations and requirements at all times. Follows established safety standards and procedures and complies with legal regulations. Answers incoming phone calls and directs the calls to the appropriate staff as needed. Reports to work on time for all scheduled shifts and completes entire shift. Performs other duties as assigned to support laboratory volume, projects and priorities.
