About The Position

As a Laboratory Assistant based in our Orange, CA laboratory, you will be part of Montrose, a global environmental services provider. We offer environmental planning and permitting, measurement and analytical services, and environmental resiliency and sustainability solutions. Our team is dedicated to optimizing environmental resiliency and effectively fulfilling project requirements. You will be responsible for a full range of activities in the laboratory, including sample preparation, laboratory maintenance, and compliance with quality assurance and health and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic laboratory techniques (knowledge of PPE, use of balance, pipetting, glassware handling, etc.)
  • Basic Excel skills required
  • Must be comfortable working with strong acids and solvents
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position for entire shift duration
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs independently and 50 lbs using assisted lifting equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
  • Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Good organizational skills and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Preparing samples for digestion or extraction as needed
  • Performing dish washing and cleaning approximately 80% of shift
  • Conducting laboratory maintenance, upkeep, and sample archiving/disposal approximately 20% of shift
  • Preparing reagents as needed
  • Conducting simple water quality assays
  • Data entry
  • Facility housekeeping/maintenance
  • Performing routine repetitive motions such as scrubbing, rinsing, drying, and stacking glassware
  • Responsible for proper disposal of samples according to laboratory protocols
  • Performing calibration verification of laboratory equipment such as thermometers and balances
  • Conducting inventory of laboratory supplies and chemicals
  • Restocking laboratory cabinets and storage areas with supplies and chemicals as needed
  • Performing support tasks as needed
  • Complying with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Complying with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
