About The Position

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking a Laboratory Assistant PRN to join their team. This role involves performing general clerical duties, conducting phlebotomy draws, and assisting in various medical laboratory procedures across departments such as Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Urinalysis, and Histology. The position requires adherence to safety and infection control standards, maintaining confidentiality, and producing accurate results with minimal clerical errors. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to patient care and possess the necessary technical skills to support laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred Skills: Venipuncture skills, superior organization skills, superior people/interactive skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general clerical duties such as answering phones and processing requisitions.
  • Conduct phlebotomy draws in both inpatient and outpatient areas.
  • Adhere to proper drawing techniques and understand the cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation of each age group.
  • Organize, assist, and perform various medical laboratory procedures as needed.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Conduct job duties in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Produce accurate results with minimal clerical errors.
  • Update knowledge of procedures, techniques, and standards regularly.
  • Respond promptly to changes in workload and adjust assignments as necessary.
