About The Position

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking a Laboratory Assistant PRN to join their team. This role involves performing general clerical duties, conducting phlebotomy draws, and assisting in various medical laboratory procedures across multiple departments. The position requires adherence to established policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and producing accurate results with minimal clerical errors. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to patient care and possess the necessary technical skills to support laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred Skills: Venipuncture skills, superior organization skills, superior people/interactive skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general clerical duties such as answering phones and processing requisitions.
  • Conduct phlebotomy draws requested during shifts in both inpatient and outpatient areas.
  • Adhere to proper drawing techniques and understand the cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation of each age group.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Conduct job duties in accordance with hospital and departmental policy and safety/infection control standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality relative to patient information.
  • Produce accurate results with a minimum of clerical errors.
  • Regularly update knowledge of procedures, techniques, and standards.
  • Organize work to complete job tasks in a timely manner.
  • Respond promptly to changes in workload and adjust assignments as necessary.
  • Complete job duties within required timeframes according to established schedules.
  • Interpret and properly order laboratory requests, performing venipuncture with minimal trauma.
