About The Position

While experience is preferred, Mayo Clinic provides on-the-job training for this role! Learn and earn at Mayo Clinic! As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition, you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred
  • 1-2 years medical experience preferred
  • Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks
  • Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations
