ABOUT THIS JOB The Laboratory Assistant (LA) supports In Vitro Assay Services maintaining the laboratory’s chemical and consumables inventory. The LA is also responsible for all general laboratory cleaning, maintenance, and waste management procedures as well as general administrative duties and basic laboratory functions, as needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One (1) year of relevant laboratory experience; GLP/ISO/GMP experience a bonus; candidates with experience with LIMS and ELNs highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Creates, manages and maintains an inventory system for laboratory chemicals and consumables. Receives materials and accurately logs receipts using the applicable electronic data capture system and/or approved documents. Obtains, files and maintains applicable Material Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Analysis for all chemicals received. Monitors stock levels, and coordinates disposal, restocking, and reordering supplies, as needed.
  • Laboratory Cleaning and Maintenance: Performs routine cleaning and upkeep of laboratory spaces and equipment including but not limited to, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and regularly disinfecting and wiping down surfaces and equipment per established procedures. Completes required documentation for daily environmental monitoring within the laboratory.
  • Waste Management: Manages routine waste handling activities including autoclaving applicable waste, removing trash and recycling, and organizing chemical disposal services, as needed in accordance with site procedures and safety requirements.
  • Operational Support: Provides operational support including the creation of departmental data books, preparation of backup scans for business continuity purposes, and performance of basic laboratory functions, as needed.
