About The Position

To perform venipuncture and skin puncture and pre-analytical and post analytical steps of laboratory testing. The position requires upholding Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. The role involves selecting the appropriate phlebotomy technique relative to the age and physical maturation of the patient, assessing the quality of blood to be drawn, and performing venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick proficiently on patients of all ages. Additionally, the position includes properly labeling samples, transporting them to the laboratory, and performing the pre-analytical phase of testing by bar coding, centrifuging, separating, logging, culturing, and staining of bacteriological specimens. The role also requires monitoring and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of supplies and reagents, establishing courteous relations with the public and patients, and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • One (1) year phlebotomy experience in an acute care medical center or non-acute care setting or equivalent military experience.
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Phlebotomy Technician II Certificate (California) OR Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate (California).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform job duties at a satisfactory performance level.

  • Assumes other activities and responsibilities as directed.
