SUMMARY This position provides analytical support to the Plaquemine Operating Units.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science/technical field strongly preferred, with a minimum of 12 hours in chemistry course work (applicable experience can be substituted for chemistry course work).
Minimum of two years previous laboratory experience required (clinical/research acceptable).
Basic laboratory skills such as quantitative and qualitative testing, ability to interpret results.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite, LIMS, SAP and statistical software.
Basic troubleshooting skills with the ability to escalate problems
This position also requires a high degree of organizational skills to be able to meet deadlines.
This position requires the ability to work a 12-hour rotating day shift schedule with holidays and weekends.
Occasional overtime, nights and callouts will be required as well.

Nice To Haves

Experience gas or liquid chromatography, ICP and/or discrete liquid analysis a plus
Experience with regulatory certifications/accreditations such as ISO 9001, cGMPS, FCC, and ASTM.

Responsibilities

Demonstration of a strong safety mindset through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety policies.
Comply with Laboratory Safety Policy and site HSP’s.
Participation in the PACE safety culture.
Writes permits and work orders in accordance with company environmental, health and safety and operational procedures.
Reports injuries, incidents and hazards to supervision as soon as reasonably possible.
Conducts tasks and operational duties with appropriate PPE as assigned.
Reviews JHA for appropriate PPE needed for routine and non-routine duties.
Actively participates in unit safety training and monthly safety modules.
Membership on the Emergency Response Team.
Analyze raw material, in-process materials, environmental samples and finished products related to sites operational units using Laboratory standard operating procedures and specifications.
Review all results and then report them accordingly to the proper operating unit.
Input of data into LIMS/SAP.
Assist with preventive maintenance of instrumentation.
Assist with troubleshooting of instrumentation.
Assist with laboratory housekeeping and 5S to maintain clean working environment.
Perform assigned duties needed to keep the lab functioning efficiently.
Carry out other activities/tasks as needed/assigned by management.
