Position Overview EAG Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Analyst – ICP‑MS to join our Syracuse, NY laboratory. This role focuses on trace and ultra‑trace elemental analysis using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP‑MS) in a fast‑paced industrial testing environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering or Associated degree and 2+ years of relevant analytical experience
  • Strong experience with trace elemental analysis
  • Experience working in industrial, QC, contract lab, or manufacturing‑support environments preferred
  • Solid understanding of ICP‑MS fundamentals, calibration, and QC
  • Experience handling acids and performing sample digestion safely
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Attention to detail and data integrity
  • Ability to work independently with increasing technical ownership
  • Clear technical communication and documentation skills
  • Customer‑focused, collaborative mindset
  • Willingness to work evening shift as required
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
  • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
  • Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and /or fingers.
  • Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.)
  • Must be willing and able to wear PPE such as hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, laboratory coat and/or any other devices or equipment that is required.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
  • Ability to move equipment or items up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform trace and ultra‑trace elemental analysis using ICP‑MS
  • Analyze a wide range of materials, including: Metals and alloys Semiconductor‑related materials High‑purity and specialty materials
  • Prepare, run, and evaluate calibration standards, blanks, and QC samples
  • Interpret analytical data and generate clear, customer‑ready reports
  • Identify and address spectral and matrix interferences
  • Prepare samples using techniques such as: Acid digestion (microwave or hot block) Dilutions and standard preparation
  • Maintain strong contamination control and documentation practices
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures when handling acids and reagents
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP‑MS instrumentation
  • Perform routine performance checks, tuning, and maintenance
  • Investigate out‑of‑spec results and recommend corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement of analytical methods and workflows
  • Work closely with laboratory staff to meet customer timelines
  • Prioritize work effectively in a high‑throughput industrial lab
  • Comply with internal quality systems, safety requirements, and ISO 27001 information security standards
