About The Position

Precision Diagnostics, based in San Diego, California is a fast-growing clinical laboratory that specializes in providing drug testing, primarily for the purpose of helping physicians monitor their patient's undergoing treatment for pain or substance abuse. Precision’s objective is to improve patient adherence/compliance with their prescription regimen and protect medical practices from liability. The Accessioning Technician is responsible for all aspects of the pre-analytical process in the laboratory. This is a position which offers growth into other laboratory positions.

  • Become fluent in Microsoft 365 (formerly Office635) applications assigned to your role. Common applications include: Teams, Word, Excel, Tasks and Planner
  • Complete training in a timely manner that is assigned to you. Training is primarily conducted via Microsoft Learn modules and is assigned based on:
  • Position/Job Role – Most positions require a core set of Microsoft 365 working knowledge
  • Project Role – As member of a project team, you may be required to complete training before you can engage with the project team or commence project work
  • Ad-Hoc – Based on review of your performance via support requests, training modules will be assigned to increase skills

Responsibilities

  • Receives, sorts, and unpacks specimen shipments.
  • Identify and categorize special handling and priority accounts.
  • Accurately enters all information received from clients into testing database
  • Ensure correct labels are affixed to specimen devices, tubes, and documentation.
  • Identifies discrepancies and communicates with appropriate personnel.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Medical records keeping - scan and store all paperwork received.
  • Specimen aliquoting – oral fluid and urine.
  • Specimen inventory and recovery.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, and COLA guidelines.
  • Daily verbal and electronic communication with designated personnel.
  • Assist with other duties as delegated.
  • Maintains production rate of 45 electronic specimens/hour and 30 manual specimens/hour
  • Does not exceed 3% error rate
