About The Position

The Labor Services Representative/Trainee position is designed to assist jobseekers and employers by providing a range of services, including individual interviews to evaluate jobseeker needs, developing solutions to employment barriers, and offering intensive job placement assistance. This role is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS), which allows for non-competitive appointments under specific qualifications. The position emphasizes relationship-building with diverse stakeholders and aims to empower New Yorkers in their career pursuits.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by providing a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers.
• Interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, including work history, education, skills, and job preferences.
• Identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers.
• Provide intensive job placement assistance, including skills-based resume development and employment interview coaching.
• Conduct employment referrals and advocate for job seekers during their job applications.
• Provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.
