Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Labor Relations Representative at our Tilden Mine facility in Ishpeming, MI. The Labor Relations Representative will be responsible for providing LR support to a large, diverse employee population at our Tilden Mine. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and have a focus on developing and fostering strong relationships. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field is required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a human resource role with a strong emphasis in labor relations, preferably in a unionized industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster strong, positive relationships with Company Management and Union leadership.
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex administrative processes.
  • Strong investigation and interviewing skills.
  • Proactive labor relations approach with a goal of minimizing escalation of employee concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in independently assessing and resolving a variety of labor/employee relations issues.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain positive relations between the company, local union officials, and international union representative(s).
  • Provides guidance and support to management in all areas of bargaining unit employee relations.
  • Administers grievance handling process and procedures including full ownership of cases through the grievance process.
  • Represent management and meet with supervisors and union representatives to investigate and resolve grievances.
  • Participates in full cycle recruitment process of bargaining unit positions including testing, interviewing, background checks, and selection.
  • Researches and assists in the development of labor agreement language and negotiating objectives by contributing recommendations to Manager.
  • Gathers, prepares and analyzes technical and statistical data for use in negotiation of labor agreements, grievance processing, mediation, arbitration, fact finding and other labor relations activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
