About The Position

The Chicago office of McGuireWoods seeks an Associate for the Labor & Employment Department. McGuireWoods' clients include local, national and multinational employers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and nonprofits. With nearly 60 lawyers in the United States and Europe, our labor and employment team handles upwards of 4,000 employment-related matters each year. We counsel employers in every aspect of the employer/employee relationship, including federal, state and international law compliance; traditional labor issues; internal investigations; federal contracting; and executive compensation. Recognition by Chambers USA in recent years for our labor and employment regional practices, including North Carolina and Virginia, plus nearly a dozen rankings for individual attorneys. Requirements

  • 2-3 years of labor and employment law or commercial litigation experience
  • Strong academic background
  • Ability to demonstrate top-notch legal research, analysis and writing abilities
  • Experience litigating either employment, civil rights, or commercial matters in both state and federal courts
  • Experience with state and federal wage & hour and employment laws is preferred
  • Experience with educational institutions is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with client, business, and legal teams
  • Strong academic record
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Illinois State Bar is required
