About The Position

As a Labeling Specialist, you will play a key role in coordinating, developing, and organizing labeling and packaging for both CP Fresh products and private label customers. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Sales, Marketing, and plant personnel—to create accurate and compliant regulatory content for product graphics. In this position, you will be responsible for validating all regulatory information and claims on labeling and packaging, ensuring that every detail meets industry standards and ensures compliance with FDA, USDA, as well as SQF standards. You will also manage the creation of generic approval records and secure USDA sketch approvals, as needed, prior to plant production. To thrive in this role, you must be highly organized, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to make independent decisions that ensure compliance and accuracy. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be essential in maintaining high standards and ensuring regulatory success.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience and ability to develop and evaluate product manuals, instructions for use and other labeling/labels to ensure that the information is complete and correct.
  • Experience with BarTender or other barcode label programs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of labeling/label standards, regulations, directives and guidances.
  • Basic understanding of change control requirements.
  • Computer literacy required; good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize urgent matters.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the labeling process for new and existing CP Fresh products.
  • Develop and maintain the design and layout of product manuals, packaging and labels.
  • Incorporate redlined changes made to artwork drafts to create final drafts and source files.
  • Clarify open questions and request missing information on redlined artwork.
  • Assist labeling creators/reviewers based on a strong understanding of regulatory standards and guidelines for FDA and USDA labeling/labels.
  • Proofread and act as departmental quality control for product descriptions and labeling content.
  • Create and revise BarTender barcode label PDF artwork and source files.
  • Manage product documentation, labeling and retail packaging updates resulting from regulatory requirement changes.
  • Obtain the required labeling requirement approvals.
  • Provide documentation for labeling change orders: PDF artwork redlines, PDF artwork final drafts, source files, summary of changes, and certificates of translation.
  • Coordinate with outside suppliers as needed to facilitate the implementation of new and revised labeling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business.
