About The Position

The Labeling Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with FDA and USDA labeling regulations and company policies. This role involves developing accurate food labeling information, collaborating with various teams, and managing regulatory risks associated with the company's products. The specialist will also handle consumer inquiries related to labeling and contribute to the approval of product labels.

Requirements

  • BS Nutrition or Food Science or related field.
  • 3 years of labeling and regulatory experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with teams.
  • Evidence of strong problem solving.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple database systems and network efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, proficient in multitasking and prioritization.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of regional regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of food product development, commercialization and related processes.
  • Working knowledge of food safety and allergens.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations and company policies.
  • Work closely with labeling team to support project and business work.
  • Develop and maintain accurate food labeling information for finished products to assure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Work across functional teams to assure compliance with local and regional regulations and third-party certification standards.
  • Complete and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and claims.
  • Contribute to, review and approve artwork, packaging, graphics and text of existing and proposed product labels.
  • Develop and inform communication for consumer and customer inquiries pertaining to labeling.
  • Collaborate to manage regulatory, food safety, litigation, brand and third-party risk for company's products.
