Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Lab Test Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Lab Test Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Lab Test organization. This position is located in Palmdale, CA. In this role, you will operate advanced lab equipment to simulate and verify system assets, ensuring accuracy through hands-on procedures and direct reporting. You’ll work with cutting-edge technology and leverage your DOORS expertise in a dynamic lab environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related professional/military experience for Lab Test Engineer (Level 2).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience for Principal Lab Test Engineer (Level 3).
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience applying core systems engineering processes across the full system lifecycle (e.g., requirements development, analysis, integration, verification, and validation, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in DOORS and experience in integrated team environments.
  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts and decomposing requirements.
  • Experience in hardware/software testing and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and MBSE.
  • Experience as a Product Owner.
  • Experience with software products running in a virtual environment (e.g. VMware).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Test Plans and Procedures for requirements verification and support system integration and test of complex systems.
  • Evaluates integration and test anomalies and assists disposition and correction of issues.
  • Develops requirements for the subsystem and SRS/HRS specifications through use of MBSE tools & DOORS.
  • Prepares technical presentations for management and stakeholders and communicates clearly and effectively the technical approaches and findings.
  • Addresses interface and functionality problems between software components and/or hardware.
  • Performs trade studies, engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Actively participates in the efforts associated with Agile development, including release planning, sprint planning, scrum, and retrospective.
  • Develops architecture and designs of complex hardware and software systems, including requirements traceability and implementation assessment.
  • Contributes to an implementation that includes the ability to analyze high-level needs and define a structured and logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that led to a fielded product.
  • Supports the development and review of interface documents (ICDs), requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and authors and performs formal and informal engineering reviews.
