About The Position

You would perform high complexity testing without direct supervision in a hospital laboratory setting. Processes incoming samples by ensuring correct labeling, computer login, centrifugation, aliquoting, and storage. What You Would Do: Demonstrates technical competency by performance of moderate and high complexity tests using a variety of laboratory techniques. Performs tests according to established laboratory procedures with acceptable accuracy and precision. Develops and demonstrates knowledge and skills pertaining to instrumentation, procedures, and processes. Performs maintenance according to scheduled frequency with complete documentation. Performs tasks to assist with overall operation of laboratory service according to laboratory policies and procedures and in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Takes responsibility for all inventory of reagents, quality control materials and supplies associated with assigned test to ensure adequate materials are available for next analysis. Accurately analyzes patient specimens on instruments and/or by specified manual methodologies within specified turnaround times. Identifies problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results and take action as outlined in established protocols. Participates in continuing education program, as needed. Position Hours: Per Diem - Day Shift w/start time 7:00 am. Need to be available M-F for EPIC Training

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a chemical, physical or biological science. Foreign graduates require degree equivalency evaluation documentation.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (direct telephone) to interact with patients and other members of the health care team.
  • Possesses hearing acuity to be able to communicate with others, communicate using the telephone and be able to monitor the many sounds produced by clinical instrumentation.
  • Work requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses and summarizing the information and data in order to interpret and report results.
  • Must possess sufficient motor skills in order to perform delicate tasks such as calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, perform precise sample procedures, pipetting of samples and use of computer workstations.
