Responsibilities

  • Conduct, direct or assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled cross-trained rotation and demonstrate continued competency in various sections of the Clinical Laboratory.
  • Recommend areas or approaches for improvement activities and perform new procedures.
  • Collect data and provide input to department discussions.
  • Establish job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency.
  • Independently perform a variety of laboratory tests and show competency of skills.
  • Operate instruments; perform checks, calibrations, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Perform and report Quality Control Procedures and identify Q.C. failures.
  • Prepare samples for analysis and store/preserve specimens.
  • Prepare reagents and assist with monitoring supply inventories.
  • Perform registration and sample collection as required by location.
  • Collect and analyze data affecting decisions regarding patient care.
  • Assist with the development of new procedures and updating existing procedures.
  • Train bench personnel and students in bench procedures.
  • Function as a key operator for testing systems and coordinate quality control activities.
  • Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests quickly and effectively, identifying and meeting customer needs.
  • Maintain currency in the field through continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Perform accurate, precise work with a consistently low error rate.
