Medical Education & Research Institute (MERI) is a non-profit organization which supports the advancement of medicine by providing bio-skills lab environments essential to medical and surgical training for healthcare professionals. Our central U.S. location in Memphis, TN as well as our mobile support ability allow us to facilitate state-of-the-art, hands-on training and educational events for physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals from across the country and around the world. Our unique ability to coordinate all aspects of medical training is made possible in part by our exclusive partnership with the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation . In order to better accommodate training in the evolving medical industry, we are currently expanding our Lab/Clinical team. We are seeking adventurous and energetic individuals interested in an exciting opportunity to work with the MERI clinical team to support leading healthcare professionals and innovators on the cutting edge of medical science. As a part-time Lab Technician , your role is to perform various functions involved with daily clinical operations of the Lab dept by providing support for educational lab courses as needed. This position reports directly to the Lab Manager and works closely with our clinical staff and sponsors.

  • Provide customer service support to assist sponsors in meeting the needs of the sponsors and learners during human cadaveric specimen and animal specimen training labs
  • Assist with the preparation of lab spaces for medical training courses with proper instrumentation, equipment, and tissue as directed
  • Ensure proper setup and operation of any equipment required for lab event as directed
  • Operate various lab equipment such as C-arm x-ray during course delivery as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and instrumentation used in lab training
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
  • Ability to fulfill all essential job functions as listed with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • No prior clinical/lab work experience required but some familiarity with surgical/operating room environment preferred
