About The Position

We are looking for a Labratory Technician to work in our Community Health Center in Southeastern Utah. Our clinic is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, Pharmacy, Dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more. UNHS will be hiring 1 Full-time position. Requirements

  • High school diploma required;
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and Lab Interface systems is a must.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CRP certification
  • Must receive annual inoculation of flu vaccine.
  • Must receive or have received all CDC recommended vaccines for healthcare workers.
  • MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
  • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • COVID-19 vaccine
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Medical Lab Technology
  • Preferred two years’ experience as a lab technician.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work and communicate with all staff associated with the laboratory this includes: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nursing staff, and also other reference laboratory staff to ensure that all patient lab work is received and results are communicated in an effective manner.
  • Obtains lab specimens as according to UNHS protocol ensuring that the correct samples and quantity are collected. All while ensuring that proper PPE and asepsis are used.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood and urine under the supervision of UNHS medical technologist. This also includes but is not limited to performing daily quality control and cleaning guidelines to ensure that equipment is functioning properly and effectively.
  • Complete appropriate routing, handling, processing, and documenting of various lab specimens to ensure that all lab requests completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Performs proficiency testing as required to maintain COLA/CLIA Licensure.
