About The Position

Assemble, modify, set‑up and conduct performance and other tests on air conditioning systems, sub-systems. and component assemblies. Focus is for water‑source heat pumps in particular, testing to be directed by the Laboratory Supervisor. Assist with maintenance of the lab tools and equipment. Annual, monthly, and daily preventative maintenance as prompted by PM systems and lab supervisor. Assist with improvements in the lab systems and/or tools as required to provide continuous improvement in processes and procedures. This may include procedure writing and editing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Able to lift 35lbs and stand for up to 8 hrs.
  • General knowledge of HVAC units and designs
  • Understanding of the thermal cycle
  • Understanding of the impacts of heat exchangers, TXVs, Fan Motors, Compressors,
  • High attention to detail
  • Good communications skills
  • Knowledge of simple electrical circuits

Nice To Haves

  • Machine operation, blueprint reading, hand tools use, and Windows PC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set‑up and instrument HVAC equipment and / or components described above in test rooms or field locations.
  • Perform tests on units, in keeping with the laboratory work schedule, according to applicable and appropriate test procedures.
  • Monitor and accurately record test data, calculate results or enter data into computer and formulate results for presentation to Engineering.
  • Maintain test rooms, instrumentation and reconditioning apparatus.
  • Cross check and assist in instrument calibration to ensure accurate, reliable test results and to maintain laboratory certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
