As a Lab Technician at the Montana State Prison, you will work with the Health Services Bureau-Medical, Mental Health, and Dental departments to play a vital role within this team by assuring ordered diagnostics are collected and processed within a timely manner for over 1,600 adult male offenders, including those admitted to the 24-hour Infirmary. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Three years of job-related experience.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Working and navigating within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to identify offenders with ordered diagnostics.
  • Scheduling offenders to have requested diagnostics completed.
  • Collecting and processing ordered diagnostics per established laboratory manuals.
  • Performing and documenting CLIA waived point of care diagnostics within the EHR.
  • Maintaining patient health care confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Maintaining lab supplies, equipment, and collection areas to meet the current National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) standards.
  • Reports to designated Nursing Supervisor.
