About The Position

The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America's Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. Shift & Hours: Position is full time, Wednesday-Sunday 12:00pm-9:00pm Compensation (DOE) - $17.50/hourly Plus 15% shift ($20.13/hour) differential when on shift and Full Benefits

Requirements

  • Education: High school Chemistry coursework a must, basic laboratory experience
  • Experience: Laboratory experience helpful Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Final candidates must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Must have a valid US drivers license without recent incident.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste
  • Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks
  • Body Positions: Approximately 60% of time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking when moving about laboratory, and 30% sitting when working at computer, doing paper work, or analyzing samples. These percentages vary significantly Page 4- Analyst I depending upon duties being performed. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods of time.
  • Body Movements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching when getting samples and performing analyses
  • Smelling: For unusual odors, leakage, contamination
  • Hand Use: Handling samples, operating instruments, data entry
  • Hearing: Conversational hearing ability
  • Vision: Performing analyses, viewing computer screen, doing paperwork
  • Speaking: Conversational speaking ability.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
  • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
  • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
  • Calculating data
  • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standards
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area
  • Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument specific data systems.
  • Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
  • Aliquots and weighs samples
  • Washes glassware
  • Perform other duties as assigned
