About The Position

Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, Inc., located in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Lab Technician for our manufacturing facility. The position requires a willingness to work in an asphalt lab, someone who is not allergic or sensitive to industrial chemicals or solvents, and a willingness to wear personal protection equipment, as required. Requirements

  • High school diploma (or GED) and/or laboratory experience
  • Good Math Skills
  • Able to lift and handle up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to accurately work with various instruments of measurement
  • Able to learn sampling and test methods
  • Able to learn computer skills
  • Able to read and follow written instructions and work well with others
  • Able to work without direct supervision, good communication skills
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US and have a valid driver's license
  • Any employment offers are contingent upon a pre-employment drug test and background check

Responsibilities

  • Will train under present lab technician for eventual assignment to a lab technician
  • Develop and optimize laboratory methodologies for testing petroleum products
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues
  • Document experimental procedures, results and analytical data in compliance with quality management standards
  • Provide special, non-routine analytical support for research, process, and operations
  • Assist in maintaining an internal audit program for testing procedures, calibrations, calibration verifications and results reporting
  • Assist in maintaining calibration and maintenance documents for instrumentation
  • Generate laboratory data reports as necessary for product quality and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure laboratory safety protocols are adhered to and promote a culture of safety within the team
  • Respond in off-hours if needed to assist with critical equipment and testing
  • Perform physical and analytical test, as required
  • Produce sample batches for testing, 1-20 gallons
  • Prepare product sample requests
  • Fill sample batches for shipping
  • Obtain samples of raw materials from plant for lab use
  • Keep the working area clean
  • Handling hazardous material as required
  • Quality Control - perform general quality control functions and testing
  • Any other duties assigned by Lab Technician and Facility Manager
