Technical and documentation support for the Microbiology lab.
Requirements
Association degree (AA) in a scientific discipline from the community or four-year college; High School diploma with two/three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, procedures, and manuals.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from departmental manager/supervisor or other employees.
Ability to apply basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as percentage determination.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, Google Docs and Google Spreadsheets, and Database software.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Responsibilities
Logs on incoming samples of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products in logbooks and e-files.
Prepares test samples for microbiological analyses utilizing aseptic techniques. Prepares and sterilizes standard microbiological cultural media.
Accurately documents and maintains necessary paper and electronic data records.
Maintains proper labeling, handling, and storage of microbiological supplies, media, and reagents.
Maintains proper labeling, handling, and storage of microbiological retain samples.
Operates general laboratory equipment such as an autoclave, pipet machine, incubator, analytical scales, etc.
Housekeeping duties as assigned to maintain.
Maintains proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of microbiological waste. ∙ Manages time and tasks efficiently.
