About The Position

USALCO Baltimore Plant, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently and consistently performs to very high standards. JOB SUMMARY: The person in this role will safely perform laboratory duties that include, but are not limited to, performing analytical tests of intermediate and finished products, reporting results to production supervisors and managers, to maintain quality standards. Responsibilities will include performing routine chemical testing in accordance with Certificates of Analysis, including: pH, acid value, solids and other standard analytical tests as required, labeling samples and reagents, cataloging, organizing, and sorting samples, reagents, equipment, data, and documents. The position requires a motivated, detail oriented, and results driven team player who: Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day activities, Effectively communicates with Supervisor and peers, Can understand laboratory testing procedures and equipment in a lab environment. Carry out general laboratory and office tasks to ensure smooth daily operations Will actively seek out opportunities for lab organization, safety, and cleanliness Effectively utilize ERP software to electronically prepare and manage certificate of analysis, prepare shipping documents, and track product quality data. The employee in this position will be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual. The employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laboratory equipment. The person must possess excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills necessary to keep Supervisor and peers informed of progress and problems. This person must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the company, to execute job responsibilities.

  • Strong Analytical and Mathematical aptitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard office software and data entry
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be proficient in conducting titration.
  • Routinely stand 80% of shift
  • Work both indoors and outdoors during all seasons

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing basic chemical tests (pH, Acid Value, Solids, etc.) preferred
  • Chemical or manufacturing experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment required for the job.
  • Performing analytical tests of intermediate and finished products
  • Enter Certificate of Analysis (COA) data into internal systems with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Track product analytical testing data electronically.
  • Calibrating laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with creating quality paperwork required for shipments (BOL, COA, etc.)
  • Organizing and cataloging laboratory samples.
  • Properly disposing of chemicals no longer needed.
  • Cleaning & organizing laboratory spaces.
  • Assist operations with tracking and electronically entering product batch information into ERP system.
  • Maintaining positive relationship with production personnel and lab vendors.
  • Taking inventory of and maintaining stock of equipment and supplies.
  • Apply all plant safety rules, work guidelines, practices, and procedures.
  • Assist in development and apply improvements in processes, equipment, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.
