The Lab Technician assists and supports research laboratory operations through daily housekeeping of the laboratories including hand washing, cleaning, drying, and storing of glassware; waste removal and disposal; keeping lab chemical inventory updated; maintaining laboratory stock supplies; working to ensure all the laboratories comply with safety and regulatory rules; assisting in lab building preventative maintenance duties; receiving supplies and chemicals, etc. Other duties may be assigned. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Follows all Standard Operating Procedures, and Environmental Health & Safety requirements. Daily hand wash cleaning, drying, and storing of glassware for PRD labs Ensures all general solvent containers are full and available for use Waste removal and disposal from labs Assist with performing monthly safety equipment inspections and building PMs. Maintains laboratory waste stations using our EHS guidelines Assists in oversite /maintenance of 90-day waste areas using EH&S site guidelines Assists with maintaining and ordering of laboratory stock Handles chemicals and other lab supplies for goods receipt and lab deliveries Actively engages and assists coworkers to become a valuable team member Independently organizes workspace for maximum efficiency Performs work in a proactive manner Maintains work areas and laboratory spaces in a clean and compliant manner Must be able to adapt schedules and priorities to meet business needs Supports laboratory operations, including inventory maintenance, safety audits, and general upkeep. Ensures compliance with all required local and federal safety processes and procedures. Ensures all personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn. Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about laboratory locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically, manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods. Daily use safety glasses, safety shoes, a lab coat, latex or similar gloves, a safety apron, and an organic respirator (occasionally). Other duties as assigned.
