Position Overview: The Lab Technician is responsible for supporting MIL’s chemical processing and product testing operations by performing routine and specialized laboratory analyses, monitoring and maintaining process solution chemistry, and ensuring accurate documentation of all test results. This role also manages laboratory inventory, including chemical reagents, equipment, and supplies, and conducts receiving inspections to maintain compliance and operational readiness. The Lab Technician prepares and maintains chemical process solutions, performs material and product testing, calibrates and troubleshoots laboratory instruments, and upholds strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring process control, product reliability, and overall laboratory efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in chemistry or a related field with 2 years of relevant laboratory experience or Bachelor's degree in related scientific field with no prior experience required
  • Knowledge of basic wet chemistry techniques (titrations, pH, measurement, solution preparation)
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and maintain precise, accurate documentation
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals and laboratory materials
  • Proficiency with common digital tools, including Microsoft teams, Excel, Word, and other standard office or laboratory software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with metal finishing, pretreatment chemistry, or process solution control
  • Knowledge of coating and material performance test (adhesion, corrosion, thickness, etc.)
  • Familiarity with GLP, GMP, OSHA, NADCAP

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of reagents, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of materials
  • Inspect and document incoming chemicals, test panels, and laboratory equipment
  • Monitor and titrate chemical tanks to maintain required pH and concentration levels
  • Perform routine and specialized analyses solution per SOPs.
  • Determine and execute necessary chemical additions to keep processes within specification.
  • Record all test data, adjustments, and observations in LIS (laboratory information systems) or Manual logs with high accuracy.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
  • Conduct material and product performance testing (coating weight, thickness, adhesion, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, electrical resistivity, etch rates and anodized rates).
  • Prepare custom chemical solutions and perform small-scale processing for customer requests
  • Maintain organized documentation, inspection logs, and quality records
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow GLP, GMP, OSHA, and internal safety protocols
  • Manage hazardous waste and maintain a clean, compliant lab environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
