Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a quality control lab, preferably within a manufacturing, metals, or foundry environment.
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Spectrometers (OES).
  • Proficiency in performing standard mechanical property tests (Tensile, Hardness).
  • Strong math and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and data.
  • Familiarity with lab safety procedures and handling of chemicals and hot materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform meticulous preparation of metal samples (cutting, grinding, polishing) for various tests.
  • Operate and maintain Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES) and other analytical equipment to determine the chemical composition of raw materials and finished castings.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration checks on all lab equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Execute Tensile and Hardness Tests (e.g., Brinell, Rockwell) on cast metal samples to confirm mechanical properties meet specifications.
  • Record, analyze, and interpret test results, promptly reporting any deviations or non-conformances to the Quality and Production teams.
  • Perform microscopic evaluation of metal structure to assess nodularity and metallographic structure.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, analyses, and material certifications.
  • Assist in maintaining the laboratory's quality management system, adhering to ISO 9001 standards and internal safety protocols.
  • Support problem-solving initiatives related to material quality and process control.
