The Lab Tech on weekend shift tests product samples to ensure they are in compliance with established specifications and standards. They also contribute to improvement of the Nucor Fastener Quality Management System through participation in the IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 certification programs. Lab testing includes product characteristics such as: dimensional, proof load, tensile properties, hardness, magnetic particle, micro-hardness, rotational capacity, tension control assembly testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and others. Additional job duties will include any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and/or holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary coursework in a technical field.
  • Experience with a quality management system (i.e., ISO9001, IATF16949).
  • Familiarity with quality related documentation such as GRR, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, etc.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Test product samples to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Nucor Fastener Quality Management System.
  • Participate in IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 certification programs.
  • Conduct lab testing on product characteristics such as dimensional, proof load, tensile properties, hardness, magnetic particle, micro-hardness, rotational capacity, tension control assembly testing, and hydrogen embrittlement testing.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
