About The Position

PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Lab Technician Start to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. The laboratory technician will perform laboratory analysis of refinery feed, intermediate and product streams, by-products, chemicals and gases utilizing standardized lab methods (ASTM). This role sits within the Site QA Department.

Requirements

  • Meet either or both of the following requirements in a refining or industrial setting:
  • AS/AA Degree in Science AND 1-2 years laboratory experience
  • Five years analytical laboratory technician experience
  • Proficiency in basic chemical lab skills (e.g., weighing, pipetting, titrating, dilutions, metric system, safe lab practices, units conversion, read and understand lab methods, etc.)
  • Proficiency in basic chemistry (e.g., pH, acid-base reactions, operating principles of simple lab equipment, recognize chemical formulas)
  • Work Schedule: Required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Lift a minimum of 50 Ibs.
  • Wear fire retardant clothing, respirator, ear/eye protection and other personal protective equipment.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Candidate must have active TWIC card or be able to obtain a TWIC card. Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
  • Passing of pre-employment testing
  • Successful completion of pre-employment requirements including physical, background check, and drug/alcohol screening

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing according to established procedures.
  • Recognize on-spec and off-specification test results and communicate findings to lab management and operation personnel.
  • Make proper shift relief turnover and communicate any problems or unusual circumstances experienced or anticipated.
  • Actively participate in safety reviews and task hazard assessments for the equipment to be operated.
  • Perform training as required to master and stay proficient in all areas of responsibilities.
