Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology / Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline is required
  • 1 Year experience preferred
  • Ideal candidates will be experienced with trailer or automotive repair/maintenance and have strong mechanical, electrical, and technical aptitude
  • Microsoft software knowledge is required
  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and electronically
  • Must be a team player, innovative, self-motivated, and punctual

Responsibilities

  • Sets-up and operates test stands and equipment including but not limited to Fatigue Test Machines, Inertia Dynamometer, and Coordinate Measurement Machine
  • Conducts microscopic examinations of metals and alloys to determine their structure, porosity, grain size, the presence of decarb, heat affected zone (HAZ) and other characteristics
  • Examines metal and alloy samples to detect internal fractures, impurities, and similar defects in metals
  • Tests samples in pressure device, environmental chamber, spectrometer, salt spray tester, Rockwell and micro-hardness tester and other apparatus to determine strength, hardness, chemistry, elasticity, toughness, or other properties of metal
  • Assist with the development of mechanical tests
  • Confers with engineering personnel to resolve fabrication problems relating to specifications and to review test plans
  • Examines parts for conformance with dimensional specifications
  • Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications
  • Prepares graphs and charts
  • Records, analyzes, and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by management
  • Calibrates laboratory instruments
  • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned
