About The Position

Laboratory Technicians analyze and evaluate product samples taken from the various plant areas for quality control and quality assurance.

Requirements

• Education: BS Chemistry Degree required or 5 years’ experience as a Laboratory Technician is preferred. 
• Skills: Good math skills, computer literate, and good communication skills are required.
• Abilities: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. The individual must be capable of working under minimum supervision. The individual must have the ability to climb steps and ladders, work in elevated areas, work in all weather conditions, and other conditions as necessary.
• Shift: This position will require shift work, holidays, and weekends. 

Responsibilities

• Picks up samples from production facilities and delivers them to the main laboratory for testing.
• Performs a variety of tests on samples taken from the various areas of the plant to assure quality control and quality assurance. Performs weekly calibration checks on certain laboratory and process equipment when Plant Chemist is unavailable.
• Communicate to production personnel or Plant Chemist any issues with samples/analytical results so those issues can be rectified. 
• Update the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and other logs with test results. 
• Assist Plant Chemist in the maintenance and repair of certain laboratory instruments.
• Complete calibration checks on XRF and LECO in absence of Plant Chemist
• Perform surface area analysis on TriSta.
• Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
