About The Position

This position is a collaborative, team-based role designed to support genome editing tasks and deliver genome edited animals to our internal and external clients. This hands-on bench role is responsible for the delivery of daily/weekly transgenic project tasks and meeting delivery milestones. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or a related life sciences discipline, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques, including hands-on proficiency with standard PCR methods; experience with primer design and DNA sequence analysis is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with genome engineering approaches such as CRISPR-based knockout KO and homology-directed repair, or Tol2 transposon-mediated transgenesis, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with standard restriction enzyme cloning strategies and associated diagnostic assays.
  • Hands-on experience working with animal models, including routine husbandry; prior work with zebrafish or C. elegans is strongly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of common laboratory equipment, best practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and a high level of reliability and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with in vitro transcription and RNA purification techniques preferred.
  • Prior experience with microinjection techniques is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with genome assemblies and annotation resources such as Ensembl or NCBI.
  • Experience designing and constructing plasmids using vector design software (e.g., Benchling, ApE, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Detect precise edits in vivo using standard to advanced molecular biology techniques.
  • Inject, screen, and propagate de novo genome edited animals.
  • Troubleshoot genome editing projects and analysis of genotyping data.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet commercial timelines, with the ability to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adhere to SOPs and provide detailed project tracking and documentation.
  • Prepare solutions and buffers as necessary to complete the above activities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and support other teams as needed.
