In accordance with the mission of Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic, the Extract Lab Technician, under the direction of the Extract Lab Supervisor, is responsible for compounding immunotherapy (allergy shots) based on a physician's typed order. The position involves compounding individual allergens into a master mix based on a physician order and diluting as necessary. The technician inspects and measures dosage levels for accuracy, fills immunotherapy prick trays used for skin testing by physicians, and prepares ordered dosages in patient shot vials. Additionally, the technician assists in the production of venom immunotherapy and the sterilization of Extract Lab equipment and supplies. Monitoring production supply inventory and notifying the supervisor when supplies run low is also part of the role. The technician is expected to establish, maintain, and improve strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the public, and other departments within the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic. Attendance at workshops and seminars for educational growth is encouraged, and compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and reporting actual or potential wrongdoing is mandatory.
