Performs and records scheduled QC. Notifies a technologist when QC data is outside established limits and takes corrective action as directed. Performs and records routine maintenance of equipment. Recognizes and documents malfunctions and immediately notifies a technologist. Monitors supply inventory and takes appropriate action to ensure that needed supplies are readily available. Demonstrates ability to verify specimen integrity and suitability before testing. Accurately performs assigned low and moderately complex testing procedures according to established protocols under the supervision of a medical technologist. Reports test results accurately and appropriately under the supervision of a technologist. Reports critical test results to physician, nursing station, or physician’s office according to established protocol. Effectively prioritizes work to maintain maximum efficiency. Uses spare time to assist other areas as needed. Performs phlebotomy according to laboratory policies and procedures.
