Works under general supervision to assist in technical work of research laboratory or project. Performs routine, standard, and least complex technical laboratory duties. Candidate will perform duties to include: learning experimental techniques - cell culture maintenance (refreshing medium, passaging cells, freezing cells, counting cells); western blot of proteins (making cell lysates, running and blotting gels for antibody incubations, imaging gels and blots for data processing and analysis); will also be learning various steps in design and subsequent cloning of recombinant proteins tagged with fluorescent markers for generation of stably expressing cell lines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No experience required

Responsibilities

  • Prepares laboratory specimens.
  • Assembles and operates standard laboratory equipment.
  • Collects and records data which may involve arithmetic computations.
  • Prepares standard reagents and culture media.
  • Examines experimentally infected laboratory animals to detect and record symptoms associated with variety of animal diseases.
  • Weighs, positions, and performs pre-operative shaving of animals.
  • Takes vital signs of animals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
