The Quality Laboratory Technician is responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor and/or Group Leader for applying scientific principles to assigned tasks, maintaining lab supplies, and following specific preparation labels to make various DCM media. Running various lab equipment such as pH meters, scales and autoclaves. Working independently and as a team to complete daily prep tasks.

Requirements

  • Full time on-site lab position
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem solving abilities within a fast-paced environment
  • Must follow written and verbal communication and be able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to multi-task.
  • Must be capable of thinking independently and have a great attention to detail.
  • Capable of math and computer skills
  • Operates under minimal supervision and schedules own work within the team.
  • Communicates well with others - questions to be referred to Microbiologists, Group Leaders and/or Supervisor
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment and be on your feet most of the day as well as able to lift around 10lbs or so for inventory maintenance.
  • Associates degree or BS in related field preferred.
  • Typical degree in Biological Sciences and/or Microbiology.
  • Lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check ROH availability and order as necessary, (peptone; dyes, & chemicals etc)
  • Maintain inventory control of reagents, supplements
  • Provide support with inventory control of reference standards
  • Bio-hazardous Waste handling
  • Prepare various types of Media – Agars & Broths
  • Maintain inventory of prep area lab supplies – glassware, sample containers, weigh boats, pipettes, tubes, etc.
  • Pull materials to be weighed – staging
  • Wash glassware
  • Run Autoclaves and pH meters – daily and monthly logs
  • Communicate with Supervisor for equipment/product issues
  • Follow prep sheets for exact weighing and preparing of media
  • Monthly water bath maintenance
  • Maintain stock media and Water blanks
  • Keep Prep lab GMP compliant and audit ready - Maintain a clean lab environment
  • Cooking media on burners
  • Ability to follow detail-oriented tasks in a timely manner
  • Able to organize and prioritize daily workload
  • Have working laboratory knowledge
  • Following proper PPE, aseptic technique and safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
