We are seeking a Process Chemist with expertise in running a petrochemical/refinery process monitoring lab. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on research teams focused on manufacturing, feedstock, and product characterization. This role requires performing complex research and experiments to develop new methods and procedures in a safe environment. The candidate should be experienced in building comprehensive technical reports and presenting findings to operations, engineers, or scientists. Expertise in spectrophotometry for process water testing, thermal analysis techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and gas chromatography is essential.

  • Develop and optimize chemical-pyrolysis processes to produce hydrocarbon compounds or existing compounds on a large scale.
  • Conduct laboratory-scale experiments to determine the feasibility of new processes and scale them up for production.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of chemical processes, including yield, efficiency, and safety.
  • Investigate and resolve problems that arise during the production of hydrocarbon/chemical compounds, including quality, cost, and safety issues.
  • Design and specify the equipment and materials needed for chemical processes, lab testing, and oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Conduct cost analyses to determine the economic viability of new processes and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Perform testing under ASTM methods and adhere to or improve existing quality management systems and lab information management systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or an Associate degree in Chemistry with over 2 years' experience in a process lab environment.
  • Extensive experience in thermal process instruments such as TGA, DSC, and EA.
  • Strong knowledge of LIMS usage as an administrator or user.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with pyrolysis processes is a plus.
