About The Position

Jobs in this group are typically responsible for conducting and managing research activities across various disciplines. They design and implement studies, support research activities, analyze data, and contribute to advancing knowledge and innovation in their respective fields. These roles are responsible for conducting experiments and analyses in laboratory settings to investigate scientific questions in fields like biology, chemistry, and physics. Laboratory researchers design and execute experiments, collect data, and collaborate with scientists to advance understanding of fundamental and applied research. The Department of Neuroscience at UVA’s School of Medicine is dedicated to gaining a better understanding of brain function in health and disease, with the ultimate goal to inform future treatment and improve quality of life. Our researchers use multi-disciplinary approaches ranging from cell biology and genetics to biophysics and immunology and their work is at the cutting edge of biomedical discovery. Examples of diseases actively researched include brain tumors, infection, hearing loss, multiple sclerosis, stroke, seizure disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, Huntington Disease and Alzheimer’s dementia. Importantly, many of our investigators are neuroimmunologists and glial biologists who take a particular interest in the interaction between neurons and immune or glial cells, respectively.
