About The Position

The Lab Team Lead takes the lead role in VMRD product manufacturing and is responsible for supervising manufacturing personnel.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years' experience in a laboratory environment
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows all policies, protocols, regulatory guidelines, and SOPs
  • Develops and updates SOPs as needed
  • Manufactures ELISA kits (plate coating, optimization)
  • Cultures cells, viruses, bacteria, microorganisms
  • Purifies proteins via salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, size restriction, affinity matrix
  • Evaluates proteins via BCA quantitation, spectrophotometric analysis
  • Conjugates proteins
  • Makes buffers (sterile filtration, dilutions, pools)
  • Runs and interprets assays: IFA, AGID, ELISA, RID
  • Performs in-process quality control and monitoring
  • Packages and labels product
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed
  • Calibrates, operates and maintains equipment
  • Analyzes and interprets data
  • Troubleshoots and identifies areas for process improvement
  • Mentors Manufacturing Assistants, Manufacturing Techs, and Manufacturing Scientists
  • Works with R&D to transfer new technology
  • As a supervisory role, interviews, hires, and trains new staff and provides constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching for development
  • Other duties as assigned
