Lab Support Services Tech - Phlebotomy
About The Position
Performs blood collection on all patient populations and ages using a variety of procedures. Utilizes a positive patient identification device to monitor new orders and draws that are pending. Uses critical thinking skills/problem solving when identifying more difficult collections and alternative procedures to complete blood draws. Interacts with nursing staff, providers, other hospital staff, patients, family members and co-workers to meet the needs of the patient. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

- Ability to compassionately and effectively interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.
- Workflow Management Ability to appropriately respond to: 1) fluctuations in volume, 2) unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or IS failure, 3) shift-to-shift hand-offs, 4) STAT test orders, 5) specimen integrity issues that exceed threshold
