Under limited supervision, the Lab Supervisor directs and supervises assigned personnel and daily activities of the laboratory section to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. This role is responsible for the overall management of the section, including making recommendations on hiring, counseling, and disciplinary actions for staff. The supervisor maintains statistical information related to the section, develops and monitors financial budgets, and implements quality assurance monitors to assess section performance and ensure established targets are achieved. They assist in the development and enforcement of practices to meet all operational and regulatory laws and standards, including HIPPA, and participate in process improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Lab Supervisor is responsible for training, new employee orientation, competency assessment, and evaluation of staff. The position supports the standards set forth in the DMC's Code of Conduct by fostering a commitment to legal and ethical standards, implementing external and internal audit recommendations as directed, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures. The supervisor also ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
