About The Position

The Lab Supervisor at Quest Diagnostics in Houston, Texas, is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and managing staff effectively. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Four to six years of full-time experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory.
  • ASCP Certification is required.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, schedule, and direct the work of the laboratory section.
  • Oversee activities of the department, distribute/assign work, and determine priorities.
  • Perform supervisory functions including interviewing, hiring, training, and staff development.
  • Conduct advanced/specialized tests and confirm test results as necessary.
  • Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy.
  • Initiate quality-control measures and monitor work quality for adherence to standards.
  • Perform duties of technologist as needed due to absence or peak workload.
  • Complete special projects such as surveys and statistical reports.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
