Job Description: Night Shift Position: 10PM – 6AM (OT as needed) Onsite: Quincy, Washington Job Family Definition: Provides technical support to the creation and delivery of software products, conducts or participates in technical research and collaboration with developers in the process, design, development, and usage of software development tools and systems. Responsibilities may include leading a team or project in area of expertise, planning, supporting, coordinating, integrating, troubleshooting, and administering systems used as part of the Software Development infrastructure to control and release components. This applies to the documentation, design, code, integration, test ware, testing activities, change control activities, release activities as well as the tracking and delivery of Software Products. Management Level Definition: Uses ability as a skilled specialist to contribute to the development of new concepts/techniques and to complete assignments/tasks in innovative and effective ways. Expert knowledge on the general/technical aspects of the job. Works on assignments that are highly complex in nature where a strong degree of initiative and technical knowledge are required to resolve problems. Work is completed independently and has ability to handle most unique situations. Frequently determines methods and procedures for new assignments. May supervise the activities of other non-exempt employees. Type of Experience Needed: Focused experience in a key area of Software Development support as relevant to the job being performed. A Junior Lab Administrator is an entry level Lab Admin position. A Jr. Lab Admin is responsible for the closures of trouble tickets (Issues) submitted by various individuals throughout the company. Jr. Lab Admins are expected to ask questions and learn how the various labs work, as well as the equipment within the lab. Tasks required of the candidate can include but are not limited to learning how to perform the following duties: Physical de-racking, moving, and re-racking of network equipment within or between labs Documentation of installs/de-installs/reinstalls Receiving of new inventory Installation of network and/or computer equipment Adding new devices to our database system Building and changing topologies, and documenting the changes Troubleshooting hardware/software issues on installed equipment Pre-requisites for this job are the following: Basic UNIX Skills Ability to navigate and work comfortably in a UNIX/Linux command-line environment. Ability to install Operating system like Ubuntu, Centos, REDHAT, Rocky Linux. Familiarity with common shell commands such as ls , cd , pwd , cp , mv , rm , mkdir , chmod , chown , and grep . Basic process management skills, including checking running processes ( ps , top ), starting/stopping services, and understanding exit codes. Understands the concept of file permissions and ownership at a basic level. Can view log files and configuration files using tools like cat , less , or nano/vi . Willing to learn more advanced UNIX concepts over time. Knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking Concepts Basic understanding of what IP addresses are and how devices communicate over a network. Familiarity with common networking terms such as IP, subnet, CIDR, gateway, router, and DNS. Knowledge of common network protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH) and their typical use cases. Understanding of DNS concepts, including domain names, name resolution, and common DNS record types. Able to perform simple network checks using tools like ping or nslookup with guidance. Awareness of internal vs. external (private vs. public) IP addresses. Good Troubleshooting Instincts Ability to approach technical issues methodically by identifying symptoms, isolating root causes, and testing hypotheses. Ability to interpret logs, error messages, and system output to guide problem resolution. Demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to investigate problems rather than guessing. Understands when to ask for help and how to clearly explain an issue to teammates. Able to reproduce issues and verify whether a proposed fix worked. Strong analytical thinking skills and attention to detail when diagnosing issues. Willingness to ask relevant questions, document findings, and escalate issues appropriately when necessary. Maintains a calm and professional approach when handling incidents or user-reported problems.
