The Technical Section Supervisor uses the laboratory process to safely perform laboratory procedures. Working assignments are determined by the workload of laboratory test to be done. Follows departmental procedures and policies that reflect the services provided by the laboratory. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments. The technical section supervisor will be assigned up to 40 hours a week and will rotate between day and night shifts according to the needs of the unit and staff. The Technical Section Supervisor is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Must be able to address problems with instruments and not depend on someone else to resolve the problem. Will be responsible to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to unit. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is non-negotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. Must be willing to perform any duty within scope of medical technologist as requested by laboratory manager or director. The Lab Information Supervisor will establish and follow departmental procedures and policies that reflect the services provided by the lab. The Supervisor will assist in educating clinic and laboratory personnel and students when requested. Maintains current knowledge of LIS and assists with all LIS updates. Must work with clinical staff to identify the functional capabilities of the specialized software applications, investigate causes of system malfunctions and troubleshoot source of errors. The Lab supervisor will be responsible to assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personal assigned to unit. The supervisor will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and will rotate between day, evening, and night shifts according to the needs of the staff and unit. The supervisor is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures and regulations for the department and organization.
