About The Position

The Lab Safety Service Lead serves as the technical and operational lead for lab safety services, providing hands-on field expertise, coordinating daily service activities, supporting sales and customer growth, and ensuring high-quality execution across all lab safety work. This role blends technical leadership, customer engagement, scheduling coordination, and sales support . The Lead works closely with technicians, service coordinators, and sales partners to deliver compliant, efficient, and customer-focused lab safety services while supporting business development and long-term client relationships.

Requirements

  • NSF certification preferred ; ability to obtain certification is required.
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of lab safety systems, airflow testing, HEPA filtration, and controlled environments.
  • 35 years of experience in lab certification, HVAC troubleshooting, cleanroom testing, or a related technical field.
  • Strong technical aptitude with hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate people, schedules, and resources effectively.
  • Comfortable supporting sales conversations and customer-facing discussions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with service reporting tools, spreadsheets, and documentation systems.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work in labs, cleanrooms, and controlled environments.
  • Must be able to read, write, hear, and speak English clearly.
  • Strong multitasking, judgment, and stress-management skills.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lead technician or coordination experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer conversations, estimating, or sales coordination is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for lab safety services, providing hands-on support, troubleshooting, and guidance in the field.
  • Lead by example in certification procedures, cleanroom testing, fume hood testing, repairs, and airflow diagnostics.
  • Ensure all work meets applicable standards including NSF/ANSI, USP <797>/<800>, IEST, ASHRAE, and OSHA .
  • Perform jobsite audits to verify technical accuracy, safety compliance, and quality workmanship.
  • Maintain calibration schedules for testing instruments and equipment.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly work plans in partnership with Service Coordinators.
  • Assign work based on technician skill level, project priority, and customer needs.
  • Coordinate manpower, vehicles, tools, materials, and testing equipment.
  • Support after-hours, emergency, and out-of-town service scheduling as needed.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination between technicians, warehouse/shop, and service administration.
  • Support sales and estimating efforts by providing technical input, site walk insights, and scope clarification.
  • Assist with proposal development, service renewals, and identifying upsell opportunities.
  • Serve as a trusted customer-facing technical resource , helping explain test results, compliance requirements, and recommended solutions.
  • Identify service gaps, repeat opportunities, and long-term customer needs and communicate them to sales leadership.
  • Help strengthen customer relationships through proactive communication and follow-up.
  • Review and approve certification reports, test data, and service documentation for accuracy and clarity.
  • Ensure timely completion of service reports, certification packets, JSAs, time reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain organized job files and records in accordance with RMS standards.
  • Ensure job sites are left clean, organized, and professional.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and mentoring to Lab Safety Technicians.
  • Support technician training, certifications, and skill development.
  • Promote RMS values, safety expectations, and high customer service standards.
  • Participate in performance feedback and development discussions with management.
  • Ensure all work complies with RMS safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification and accountability.
  • Conduct jobsite safety observations and support corrective actions when needed.
  • Work closely with Service Coordinators, Sales, Project Managers, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams.
  • Support coordination across RMS service divisions as needed.
  • Assist with technical problem-solving and material planning.
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, and ongoing professional development.
  • Attend required training, meetings, and manufacturer seminars.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
