About The Position

This position supports the Public Ethnography Lab (PEL) in the Department of Anthropology, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. The position reports to the PEL Director and is supervised by the PEL Research Coordinator. This position will also support tasks related to other projects for which the lab serves as a sponsor, collaborator, or partner, such as the Roti Mapping Project or the Public Anthropology Conference. Focus areas within the position can include, but are not necessarily limited to: communication, event planning, publications, and research support.

Requirements

  • Current AU student (undergraduate) with a Federal Work Study award.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a degree, minor, or certificate (undergraduate) in Anthropology.
  • Students in communication, humanities, journalism, and social sciences are also encouraged to apply.
  • Effective writing and communication skills.
  • Effective attention to detail.
  • Comfortable speaking with people from all different backgrounds.
  • Experience or sensibility for customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Support communication functions (email, social media, website, materials).
  • Support in the planning and execution of lab events.
  • Attend and support in-person lab events.
  • Offer occasional support for programming and related tasks on nights and weekends.
  • Support research efforts of the lab and its affiliates.
