About The Position

The Clinical Lab Associate I, Specimen Processing is responsible for the daily operations of the Specimen Processing Department at Exact Sciences. This role involves accessioning, processing, automation usage, sample racking, lab maintenance, and cleaning, while adhering to laboratory policies and procedures. The position supports the mission of Exact Sciences by ensuring effective operation of the Specimen Processing department under the guidance of the Specimen Processing Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Degree/General Education Diploma.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience using computers including Internet navigation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment with sample integrity and handling.
  • Knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, NYSDOH, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience troubleshooting automation and performing instrument maintenance.
  • Lean experience (Kaizen, Kanban, root cause analysis).

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day operations of the Specimen Processing Department.
  • Accession and process specimens accurately and timely.
  • Utilize automation and maintain lab productivity.
  • Support department goals aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Document problems and resolutions following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Participate in quality and process improvements, SOP development, and audits.
  • Complete mandatory training and annual competencies on time.
  • Handle and dispose of specimens following safety policies.
  • Comply with lab and safety regulations.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives.
